A better packet starts before the work is covered.

Start with what will disappear.

Walk through the job in order. Which details will be covered, removed, or difficult to access later? Those details belong near the beginning of the photo plan.

Start with a wide view of the existing work area. Then add the specific views your scope requires. “Post base before cover” tells the crew more than “installation photo.”

Write the requirement so someone who wasn’t in the planning conversation can still take the right photo.

Keep the photo and its purpose together.

Attach each image to the requirement it answers. If a measurement matters, show enough context to identify the location and read the measurement. A close-up without a reference point can leave the reviewer guessing.

Add a brief note when the image cannot explain the condition. Keep product labels, installation details, and supporting videos with the job, while remembering that a supporting video does not replace a required photo.

Finish with the whole result.

Take a wide view of the completed work, then the close-up details your checklist calls for. Review the remaining requirements while the crew can still access the site.

Check upload status before considering the handoff complete. A photo saved on the device still needs to reach the workspace. When connectivity returns, open the app and confirm the transfer.
